Ah date nights! Don’t you just love it when the ambience is romantic, vibes are immaculate and the food is so yummy that it just makes everything perfect? Personally, I love the feeling of getting dressed and going to amazing restaurants where the dinner is not just another meal, but a whole experience in itself. And if your dinner partner is amazing? Absolute Cherry on the top!
I have been to so many amazing restaurants in Mumbai (The food scene in Mumbai is so diverse and there is something for everyone!) But if I had to narrow down to 5 of the best restaurants for your next date night, it would have to be the ones I am mentioning below.
1) Cantina, BKC
Cantina is a cute little italian restaurant situated in Godrej building in the heart of BKC. There are so many Italian restaurants in Mumbai, but somehow this one still stood out to me with its amazing flavours, unique decor and super hospitable staff. We went to Cantina on valentine’s day and believe me when I say, it was one of the most amazing Vday meals I have ever had.

When you enter Cantina the first thing you are greeted with is the amazing decor. The place boasts extremely vibrant red coloured tiger as the star of the show. Surrounded by wooden shelves filled with wine bottles and other memorabilia, the decor is just absolutely striking.

Ofcourse, being as striking as it is, the tiger makes for a super cool photo opp. Even the bar, lit up with soft red light, makes for an amazing backdrop for your photos for the ‘gram.
Now coming to food, I could not have tasted a more flavourful italian spread in all my years of having Italian food in Mumbai!
What i would recommend at Cantina: Rosso pink sauce chicken pizza, chicken parmigiana which was the juiciest tastiest full of flavour chicken parm (I am still dreaming about it to this day!) and finally, the tiramisu that comes in a moka pot. Just yummy, no bulls*ht pure italian affair.

All in all, just an amazing restaurant, perfect vibes, perfect food and just the right kind of soothing music so that you can talk to your partner.
2) Rue du Liban, Fort
Looking for an amazing spot to have some good Lebanese food in Mumbai? Rue du Liban is the place to be! The food here is such a flavour bomb, I am still dreaming about it and drooling while doing so. Some restaurants are all about the food, while others are about the entire experience. Rue du Liban, tucked away in the heart of Kala Ghoda, is one of the best restaurants in south mumbai where everything comes together beautifully. From the moment you walk in, it feels like you’ve stepped into a cosy corner of Beirut, far removed from the hustle and bustle of Mumbai.
The menu is a celebration of Lebanese flavours, and it’s best enjoyed by ordering a few dishes to share. We started with creamy hummus lahme and freshly baked pita, which was hummus topped with spiced lamb, pomegranate molasses and roasted pine nuts. The dish dish tasted fresh and comforting, with simple ingredients that were allowed to shine. The star of the show was the beautifully seasoned minced lamb that added richness without overpowering the dish. Paired with warm, freshly baked pita, it was simple, comforting, and packed with flavour.
Next came the Lamb Arayes, which I would highly recommend if you’re visiting for the first time. The crisp, golden pita encased a juicy, well-spiced lamb filling that was both satisfying and incredibly flavourful. Every bite had the perfect combination of crunch and tenderness, making it one of those dishes you’ll keep thinking about long after you’ve left the restaurant.

To end the meal, we ordered the Pudding, and it was the perfect finale. Soft, moist, and rich with caramel-like sweetness from the dates, it struck just the right balance without being overly heavy. Served warm, it was comforting and indulgent—the kind of dessert that makes you want to linger at the table just a little longer.

While Rue du Liban is definitely a premium dining experience, it feels worth it for the quality of the food, attentive service, and thoughtfully curated ambience. It never feels pretentious; instead, it offers a warm, welcoming experience that makes you want to come back.
If you’re looking for a restaurant in Mumbai that’s romantic without being over the top, Rue du Liban is one I’d happily recommend. It’s a place where conversations flow easily, the food is meant to be savoured, and every detail contributes to an evening that feels relaxed yet memorable.

3) Torii, Khar
I’d heard so much about it, not just because of its Pan-Asian menu but also because the stunning interiors were designed by Gauri Khan, so naturally, my expectations were high. Thankfully, it lived up to every one of them.
The first thing that catches your attention is the space itself. It’s elegant without feeling overdone, with warm lighting, earthy tones, plush seating, and little design details that make every corner feel thoughtfully put together. It’s one of those restaurants where you want to take a few pictures before you even open the menu, but at the same time, it doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard to be “Instagrammable.” It simply has a charm of its own.
We started with the Prawn and Chive Dumplings, and they were absolutely delicious. The dumpling wrappers were delicate and the filling was juicy and packed with flavour. Then came the Xiaolong Bao, which was everything you’d hope for. Watching the warm broth spill out with the first bite is always satisfying, and these were perfectly seasoned and incredibly comforting.

The biggest surprise of the evening, though, was the Young Coconut Carpaccio. I’ll admit, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when we ordered it, but it ended up being one of my favourite dishes. It was light, refreshing, beautifully presented, and unlike anything I’ve tried before. Sometimes it’s the unexpected dishes that stay with you the longest.
For the main course, we went with the Truffle Chicken Ramen, and it was exactly the kind of bowl you want to curl up with. The broth was rich and comforting, with just the right hint of truffle that added flavour without overpowering everything else. The noodles had the perfect texture, and the chicken was tender and well-cooked. It was hearty without feeling too heavy.

And then came dessert – the Shibuya Toast. If you’re visiting Torii, don’t skip this. It’s definitely meant for sharing (although you may not want to!). Crispy on the outside, soft and buttery inside, topped with ice cream and all the indulgent extras, it was the perfect way to end the meal. We kept saying we were full, but somehow the dessert disappeared anyway.
What I appreciated most about Torii was that it never felt pretentious. Yes, it’s a beautiful restaurant with luxurious interiors, but the warm service and relaxed atmosphere make you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in. It’s one of those places where everything, from the ambience to the food, comes together effortlessly.

If you’re looking for a restaurant that’s perfect for a date night, a celebration, or even just an excuse to dress up and enjoy a really good meal, Torii is definitely worth adding to your list. It’s stylish, the food is memorable, and it’s the kind of place you’ll find yourself recommending long after you’ve left. Sometimes, the best evenings aren’t about doing something extraordinary. They’re about finding a beautiful table, sharing a few incredible dishes, ordering dessert even when you’re full, and letting the conversation carry on. Torii is exactly that kind of place.

4) O Pedro, BKC
O Pedro was like a little taste of Goa in the middle of the city. It was ranked number 14 on Condé Nast Traveller’s Top Restaurant Awards 2025 list, so of course, I was curious to see if it lived up to the hype. Spoiler alert: it did.
The first thing I loved about O Pedro was how relaxed and welcoming it felt. The interiors are colourful and full of character, the atmosphere is lively, and there’s an easy-going energy to the place that instantly puts you in a good mood. It’s not your typical dimly lit, overly romantic date-night restaurant, but I think that’s part of its charm. If your idea of a good date involves sharing food, trying new dishes, and spending hours talking over dinner, O Pedro fits the bill perfectly.
We started with the Poee with Herb and Confit Garlic Butter, and I could have happily eaten an unreasonable amount of it. The poee was warm and fluffy, and that garlic butter was dangerously addictive. It was such a simple start to the meal, but also one of those things you keep reaching for until you suddenly realise there’s none left.
Next came Pedro’s Ceviche, which was fresh, light, and full of flavour. It was a nice change after the richness of the bread and butter and the kind of dish that immediately wakes up your palate.

The Nishte Rawa Fry was another favourite. Crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked inside, it reminded me of the kind of seafood you look forward to eating on a holiday in Goa. Nothing overly complicated, just really good fish cooked well—and sometimes, that’s exactly what you want.
For the main course, we ordered Beryl’s Fish Curry and Poee. There’s something so comforting about a good fish curry and warm pillowy poee, and this one hit all the right notes. It was rich, flavourful, and the kind of dish that makes you forget you’re sitting in the middle of Mumbai for a moment. By this point, we were definitely full, but skipping dessert is rarely an option for me. We ended the meal with the Serradura, and I’m glad we did. It was light, creamy, and not overly sweet—the perfect way to finish a meal filled with so many bold flavours.

What I enjoyed most about O Pedro was how easy the entire experience felt. The food was excellent without being fussy, the atmosphere was lively without being overwhelming, and it was the kind of place where you could easily lose track of time.
If you’re looking for a date-night restaurant that feels fun, relaxed, and a little different from the usual romantic spots in Mumbai, O Pedro is definitely worth a visit. Come hungry, order the poee, don’t skip the fish curry, and always save room for dessert.

5) Banng, Hill Road
If you love Thai food, this is definitely one to add to your list. The restaurant serves authentic Thai flavours, but there’s also a fun, modern side to the menu that makes the whole experience a little more interesting. It also has the right kind of atmosphere for a date night – lively and stylish, but still comfortable enough to sit back, talk, and enjoy your meal.
Our dinner started with a complimentary Tom Kha Pani Puri, which was such a fun surprise. I’ll admit, I wasn’t entirely sure how I felt about tom kha and pani puri being mentioned in the same sentence, but somehow, it worked. It was creamy, tangy, and full of flavour, and definitely got us excited about the rest of the meal.
Next, we ordered the Steamed Wontons with Chilli Jam Dressing. The wontons themselves were soft and delicate, but the chilli jam was what really made the dish for me. It had that perfect mix of sweet and spicy, and I probably would have happily eaten the dressing by itself.

For the main course, we went with the Thai Green Curry and Turmeric Rice. It was one of those comforting, no-fuss dishes that you just want to keep eating. The curry was creamy, fragrant, and packed with flavour, and the turmeric rice went beautifully with it. For dessert we ordered the Lod Chong Bingsu, which was creamy shaved ice topped with whipped coconut cream and pandan noodles. And Oh My God! This one knocked my socks right off! You know those desserts you order thinking you’ll just have a few bites because you’re already full? This was not one of those situations. We kept going back for another spoonful until somehow, the entire thing had disappeared. It was light and fluffy, but still indulgent enough to feel like a proper dessert. And honestly, I would go back to Banng just to eat it again.
What I liked most about Banng was that the entire vibe, the overly red decor and amazing amazing food full of umami. There was no overly formal atmosphere or food that needed too much explaining. We ate really well, tried something unexpected, talked over a comforting bowl of curry, and ended the night with a dessert we couldn’t stop eating. If you love Thai food, or are simply looking for a date-night spot in Bandra that offers something a little different, Banng is definitely worth adding to your list.

Mumbai has no shortage of incredible restaurants, but for me, the best date nights have never been just about the food. They’re about discovering a new place together, ordering far too much, stealing bites from each other’s plates, and somehow finding room for dessert even when you swore you were full. These are just a few of the restaurants in Mumbai that I’ve loved visiting, and I’m sure this list will keep growing. So, if you’re looking for your next date-night spot, I hope you find something here that you love too.
And if you have a favourite restaurant that you think I absolutely need to try, let me know. I’m always looking for an excuse to dress up, eat good food, and call it research for the blog!
